Free Tiers of Web-Data Tools for AI Agents, Compared

Last fact-checked: November 8, 2026

Advertising disclosure: we may receive a commission if you sign up through the ScraperAPI or Firecrawl links marked † in this article, at no extra cost to you. We have not tested these tools ourselves; everything below comes from each vendor's official pages. Our applications to Apify, Make and Bright Data are still pending, so links to those go to the official sites. See our Advertising Disclosure.

If an AI agent needs web data, the first question is not "which tool is best" but "how much can I do before I pay anything?" Every vendor below has a free offer, and each measures it in a different unit: dollars, credits, "units", requests, or time. This page puts them side by side.

Note on experience: we have not run production workloads on any of these tools. The numbers come from each vendor's pricing page or documentation, checked on November 8, 2026. Plans change, so check the source before you rely on a figure.

2. What a "credit" actually buys

3. Which one to try first

Still deciding between a general automation hub and a scraping platform? Read Make vs Apify: Which Should You Try First?

4. A 30-minute test that works for any of them

  1. Write down 20 URLs you actually need, including a few that are hard to fetch.
  2. Run the same 20 through two tools.
  3. Count empty results as well as errors. A page that returns nothing without raising an error is easy to miss.
  4. Note how many free credits those 20 consumed, then scale to your real monthly volume.
